The Biggest Festival Celebration in India , Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja, The biggest festival of India.

Why it is called Called Chhath Puja?कार्तिक छठ पूजा )

Since it is celebrated on the sixth day of Kartik month. The word Chhath means " Six" in Hindi and Nepali language. That's why it is named as Chhath Puja.

What is Chhath Puja and where it is celebrated?

Mostly Chhath Puja is unique to the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the country of Nepal. It is the festival that is dedicated to the Sun God, who is supposed to be the source of all powers and Chhathi Maiya. It is said that each and every wish will come true if someone do this by heart. It is the festival of discipline.


When it is celebrated ?  

It is celebrated twice a year, once it is celebrated during the summer season, probably in the January Month,in the Chaitra month(Hindi month). It is called as Chaiti Chhath Puja and another in Kartik month during the month of October or November.

This year 2018, Chhath puja will be celebrated from 11th November-14th November 2018.
11th November 2018- Nahay-khay
12th November 2018-Kharna
13th November 2018-Sandhya Argh
14th November 2018-Usha Argh and Paran

Nahay- Khay 

On this day the devotees take bath in the holy river or pond. In the village devotees try to take bath in the pond too.The raw material, wheat for "Prasad"is being washed and dried carefully during the day.
The devotees cook a proper meal for themselves which is called "Kaddu Bhat".

Kharna

On the Second day they keep fast the entire day. They self make "Prasad that is Kheer and Bread" with dry fruit and milk for evening.After puja in the evening.They follow many strict rules during prasad making, They use clay or bronze made utensils.They use mango wood for fire, in which prasad is cooked.

They break their fast with this prasad and again they keep fast for next 36 hours without water. In the evening "Prasad" are distributed among the people.
Each and everyone take this "Mahaprasad" happily. Each and every people go to the home where it is celebrated and take "Prasad". 



Sandhya Argh

On the third day each and everyone prepare for "Sandhya Argh" in the river or pond. In the evening the fast devotees make offering to the sun "Sandhya Argh" during the sunset.


Usha Arghya

On the fourth and last day of this festival the devotees make offering Usha Arghya to the Sun( Chhathi Maiya) during the sunrise. It is said that there each and wishes come true if you do this worship.In the morning around 4:30 am to 5 :00 am each and everyone start to go to the river or pond for the Morning Arghya.They wait for the sunrise, and after the sunrise they offering the morning arghya to the sun.

After successfully completion of this puja "the Mahaprasad Thekua" is distributed among the people.
